
Seniors in Hartford Organizing for Power
Susan Reynolds and Talia Orr with residents at Capitol Towers decided to create SHOP (Seniors in Hartford Organizing for Power) to fight for the highest quality of life for people 55 and over and people struggling with mobility challenges.
Organizing Partner structure comprises "Building Captains" in senior housing across Hartford and Middlesex Counties. Block Club Captains and people over 55 are also part of our organizing strategy to build political power and community towards the highest quality of life for seniors in Connecticut.


Senior-led community organizing is critical.
SHOP is Seeding Senior Organizing
Mutual Aid
Increasing farmers markets and farm partners that provide food for seniors across Hartford County
Housing
Increasing participation in tenat associations and liocal civic engagement for affordable and afe housing.
Mobility
Supporting Seniors being active and hassessibility concerns addressed.
