- Building Leadership & Organizing Capacity Trainingв разделе Community Organizing·May 17, 2025Chicks Ahoy Farm Chicks Ahoy Farm is excited to announce the dates for group Building Leadership & Organizing Capacity (BLOC) training. Last year, we taught more than 100 people how to build community organizing skills and use their leadership to build collective power. If you missed it last year, could use a refresher, or want to learn and practice alongside others organizing across the state, register to attend. BLOC Session Goals: • Learn Six Rules for effective community organizing • Learn to hold effective one-on-one meetings • Debrief and share takeaways together through shared experiences This four-hour session will include snacks, training materials, lunch and childcare. You will meet people doing this work who are new to organizing and people with years of experience at building community power. Don't concern yourself with the issue you are working on, we are going to talk about the baseline tools and tips for any community-led group building power for system change. This first session is just over a month away on Saturday, June 28th. Please register so we are able to plan accordingly. BLOC training is free of charge and open to the public and you are invited to attend. This is a hybrid session, being offered on Zoom and in-person in Middletown (exact location will be shared soon). This Summer, we will cover the following topics and you can register for them all at once if you want. • Rules of Organizing & One on Ones, Saturday, June 28th • Conversations & Planning Meetings, Saturday, July 26th • Research Hits & Public Meetings, Saturday August 23rd BLOC is a community leadership training designed to build your leadership skills so we all can increase the capacity for our neighbors and families to build power together. BLOC training will assist you with the practice and application of what you learn at these sessions. If you have an urgent organizing coaching or training need, contact Lorenzo Jones at Lorenzo@chicksahoyfarm.org and we will find time to explore potential pathways to support you in meeting those needs. - Beyond Business As Usual 2024в разделе General Discussion·October 16, 2024Beyond Business As Usual 2024: Co-Ops and the Next Economy, a groundbreaking conference bringing together the local and regional cooperative movement. Come to connect, learn, and strategize to build businesses and an economy that prioritizes people and the planet over profit. This semi-annual conference has historically brought together community members from throughout the state to discuss topics ranging from impact investment to regenerative finance, B Corps and more. This year, we are excited to partner with Cooperate Connecticut, a newly established membership network designed to grow and support our cooperative ecosystem in CT. On Saturday, October 26 from 10am-5pm, we are hosting the full day conference at the 224 Ecospace, featuring guest speakers and presenters from throughout the region and from right here in CT. The day includes a mix of tactical guidance, co-op basics, examples of cooperative activity locally and beyond, as well as chances to network and build with other changemakers. We are committed to making this event accessible, and will be providing child watch and a healthy lunch, as well as translation into Spanish for many of the sessions, plus a hybrid option for folks who are not able to join us in person. For everyone’s safety, we will require masking during the event. We look forward to welcoming folks whether you are just curious about the co-op space, or are a seasoned member of the solidarity economy movement. The suggested donation is $50, which can be made through our Sustainable CT Matching campaign here. To register for the conference, please click here. If you can’t attend but want to contribute, donations will be matched dollar for dollar – we still need another 60 donors to contribute in order to unlock the match, so even $5 or $10 will help us ensure we reach the goal! To read more about the network, the conference agenda and speakers, visit www.connecticut.coop today. I hope to see you on October 26th!
