
Seniors in Hartford Organizing for Power
Susan Reynolds and Talia Orr with residents at Capitol Towers decided to create SHOP (Seniors in Hartford Organizing for Power) to fight for the highest quality of life for people 55 and over and people struggling with mobility challenges.
Organizing Partner structure comprises "Building Captains" in senior housing across Hartford and Middlesex Counties. Block Club Captains and people over 55 are also part of our organizing strategy to build political power and community towards the highest quality of life for seniors in Connecticut.

SHOP is Seeding Senior Organizing
Accessibility on Public Buses
Mobility: Advocating for CT Transit to implement updated driver training to better serve seniors and people with mobiliy challenges.
Affordable Housing
Affordable Senior Housing: Fighting for the restoration of the old YMCA building to serve as affordable housing for seniors and the creation of more affordable housing, living services, and improved quality of life for seniors in public housing.
Food Security
Partnering with farmers to bring fresh food to seniors through our buidling's farmers market and Chicks Ahoy Farm's CoOp2kitchen.
