FREE CT is growing power for Probation Reform

Coming out of the FREE CT greater Hartford probation reform meeting on December 17, 2025, West Hartford the campaign continues to grow support for changes to the probation system that would stop it from undermining our families and neighbors.

In a recent article in the Connecticut Mirror, by Emilia Otte, Advocates call on lawmakers to make changes to probation system.

The article discusses efforts by parents, women, directly impacted people, and families to meet with legislators to secure commitments to support the probation reform bill, House Bill 6361.

“Technical violations function as a revolving door in the system.”, Alex Brown

Alex and Talia are part of a FREE CT member led campaign, fighting to reform the probation system by eliminating incarceration for noncriminal technical violations, introducing earned time credit and removing burdensome supervision fees in order to incentivize success, reduce caseloads and reduce the trauma of arrest.
